MASERU – Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) workers have embarked on a strike over their annual wage increments.
The workers, who milled around the Wasco premises earlier today not working, want the WASCO management to effect the increments for the 2021/22 financial year.
According to WASCO Acting CEO, Mr Thelejane Thelejane (picured below), “workers wanted clarity on their increments that ought to have reflected on their August salaries.
“The management had had talks with the workers’ union on this matter, but seemingly there were some misunderstandings and all will be addressed tomorrow after a scheduled meeting.”
However one of the workers who preferred anonymity said the company had owed them since 2016 as their notches remain stagnant.
“We pity those who rely entirely on WASCO for services because we are going to down tools if our grievances remain unattended,” said the worker.
