Cabinet honors Tshola

MASERU- In its Tuesday meeting, Cabinet decided to afford legendary and songwriter Tsepo Tshola an official burial.

The funeral shall be held at Thaba-Bosiu on 30 July, where the deceased shall be laid at the Heroes Acre.

This is according to government spokesperson and Communications, Science and Technology minister Sam Rapapa on Wednesday.

WHY AN OFFICIAL FUNERAL?

With tongues wagging and other artists decrying discrimination against other singers who have died before Tshola, but were not afforded a similar send-off, Mr aRapapa said Tsepo deserved all of that because he had lived up to that standard and hoisted Lesotho’s flag.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR AN OFFICIAL FUNERAL?

Members of the Royal family, Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, Court of Appeal Judge, High Court Judge, former President of the Senate, former Speaker of the National Assembly, former Chief Justice, former Deputy Prime Minister, Spouse of the Prime Minister, Leader of the official Opposition, Deputy President of the Senate, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and any citizen who dies in or out of service whom Cabinet finds worthy of an official funeral in that he/she has performed an exemplary or distinguished service to his country and citizens.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A STATE FUNERAL?

Their Majesties, The Prime Minister, President of the Senate, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chief Justice and former Prime Minister.

THE VILLAGE POPE

Tsepo ‘The Village Pope’ Mobu Tshola is one such citizen whom Cabinet found worthy of an official funeral as he has out done himself and made his people and country proud.
