Qacha’s Nek – The National Identity and Civil Registry (NICR) office under the Ministry of Home Affairs in Qacha’s Nek, has closed down due to registration of a Covid-19 case after one of its employees tested positive last week.
The closure of this office means a halt to the issuance of identity cards, birth certificates, as well as death certificates.
Sources say there have also been reports in Berea, Thaba-Tseka and the Home Affairs headquarters.
This is the second time services at Qacha’s Nek office have been negatively affected since the outbreak of this deadly virus last year.
Home Affairs spokesperson Ms Hape Marumo confirmed the Qacha’s Nek office closure.
