MASERU – The home of veteran journalist, ‘Marafaele Mohloboli was attacked by two gunmen with their faces covered on Tuesday night.

A shaken and distraught Mohloboli has recounted the ordeal, saying she was sitting in bed still working on her laptop, with her husband next to her, and her sister also in the house, when the two men wearing balaclavas stormed in.

“One of them put his finger on his lips signalling for us not to scream, and then they shouted “where is the money” while pointing their guns at us.” says Mohloboli.

She says one of them went to her husband’s side and started hitting him with a covered object that immediately wounded him severely cutting his skin open.

“My husband was able to get up and run while calling for help, so he distracted them, and they followed him outside” she says

Mohloboli says a few minutes later amidst the confusion, she got a call from her brother who lives nearby, saying that her husband had managed to make his way there but he was bleeding heavily.

“We were relieved that he wasn’t shot, but when we took him to the hospital they found that he had been cut with a sharp object, and a heavy blow had broken his arm”

Police attended to the scene after Mohloboli posted on social media that she and her family were under attack.

No one else was physically injured, It’s not clear if there were other motives for the attack besides the failed robbery.
