MASERU- Former army Commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli has been granted compassionate leave by the High Court to attend his son’s funeral on Saturday 24 July.
According to a source in the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) this move “is quite a risky one as there are hawks out therewith different vendetta. I don’t think it’s a good decision but then what can we do? A team will take him there as the court has directed,” said the source.
Kamoli is expected to be at his son’s funeral, Thabelo on Saturday as early as 7.30 am when the funeral starts up until 10.30 am.
Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane presided over the case, while Advocate Letuka Molati appeared for the Applicant and Advocate Moshoeshoe for the LCS.
According to the court order, “The Commissioner of Correctional Services is hereby directed to give appropriate orders to the Correctional officers to escort applicant to attend the funeral of his son.
“The Lesotho Correctional Service authority shall provide escort in order to ensure safety and security of the applicant by imposing reasonably suitable conditions to that effect.
“The applicant shall abide by the conditions to be imposed by the authorities.
“Applicant to be returned to the Lesotho Correctional Service soon thereafter without fail and costs follow the event “
