MASERU – Today, Thursday, June 15, marks three days since four of Lesotho Times employees tested positive for Covid 19, yet the employer has still not addressed the rest of the staff on this issue.
The four went for testing after one of their colleagues in the production department was confirmed to have contracted the deadly virus over the weekend.
On Monday those who had been in close contact with him went for testing as well and the results were never relayed to the rest of the staff.
Two of them were at the offices on Monday and mingled with their colleagues until after lunch when they tested positive.
Despite this, offices have not been disinfected. It is business as usual as employees are demanded to report for work, further exposing them and their families to the virus.
“We only got to know about our colleagues’ status when they told us and not from the management as should be the case,” said one of the workers on anonymity.
To date the employer has withheld all information and is hardly available at the office, while the rest of the staff is expected to report to work and go about business as usual.
The number of employees who have since tested positive remains at five and there is likelihood that the numbers could be more as others are doing the tests on their own.
Efforts to get hold of Lesotho Times Operations manager were fruitless as his phone did not go through.
