MASERU – Police say they have recovered M41million in cash and assets – out of the M50million that government officials, businesses and individuals stole from treasury.
M38mllion is in cash and nearly M4million is in assets including houses that lawyers in Lesotho and South Africa were in the process of buying for the suspects.
Police commissioner Holomo Molibeli briefed the media about the latest in this investigation.
He says authorities and banks in South Africa are cooperating, and the cash is now frozen in bank accounts in Lesotho and South Africa, while the rest is with lawyers appointed to buy properties for the suspects.
He says the suspects being investigated include public officials, businesses and individuals.
