MASERU – The Maseru Private Academy has had to temporarily close due to some reported Covid-19 cases among its teachers.
On Tuesday seven of the school’s teachers were reported to have tested positive, with the management allegedly not disclosing the information to other teachers and parents, and raising fears that they were putting more lives at risk.
On Tuesday, most parents went into panic when they learnt of the news and therefore decided not to send their kids to school the following day.
However the school’s management finally decided to close the school for only two days, Thursday 5th and Friday 6th to allow deep cleaning, which will also be done over the weekend.
Speaking to the Lesotho Express, the school’s management said it had decided to have all teachers who had still not gone for tests to be tested.
“The deep cleaning will be done even over the weekend and school will resume on Monday.
The school will pay for all other staff members who have still not tested. Anyone, including students who has flu symptoms shall not be allowed on the school’s premises,” said the administrator.
There is fear that the numbers of those who have tested positive could rise and contact tracing is already in process.
