MASERU- Taxi operators nationwide have on Monday announced new fares as of September 1, 2021.
Speaking to Lesotho Express, on behalf of taxi operators, Mr Lebohang Moea said they have wanted to effect new fares since last year but could not do so due to Covid 19.
He said the new prices have been endorsed by the Road Transport Board and if it were according to them as taxi operators, they would demand more.
“The RTB has made a 10 percent hike and this means a 4+1, locally will be M9 from M8, and a mini bus that costs M7.50 will now be M8.50.
“We are still not happy with the prices given the cost of car parts and other things, if we had a choice, we would actually be charging M18 for local things being normal, but with Covid 19 in play, we have been forced to consider our passengers’ predicament during this time and go by the raise put by the RTB,”said Moea.
